General Information

Configure your laptop to use the wireless service with a network name or SSID of “nceas”. There are several other wireless signals that can be accessed in the Balboa Building, but “nceas” is the only one supported by NCEAS, and its traffic is encrypted.

To use the Wifi, you will need to enter a WPA2 password. The password can be found in both conference rooms posted on the wall near the doors, and in Room 314.

  • network: nceas
  • encryption: WPA2
  • password: see corkboard in conference rooms, breakout rooms, Vislab, or Thomas in room 314.

Ubuntu 10.04

  • click the network manager icon at the top right of the screen, then choose nceas from the drop-down list of wireless networks

  • enter the wireless password and click connect

OS X 10.6

  • Select nceas and enter the password when the wireless preferences window appears

Windows Vista

Step 1: Go to Start → “Connect To”

Step 3: Enter the wireless password, then click “Connect”.

Step 4: In the final dialog box leave the default settings, and click “Close”.
