NCEAS Chat Room Setup

The NCEAS chat room is located at irc.ecoinformatics.org/6667

Ecologists have their own dedicated channel for tech questions or any other uses called #nceas-eco

We recommend the use of the open source IRC program XChat. XChat is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Select Xchat then Network List to bring up the list of Networks, then Add and Edit to add the NCEAS server.

mIRC:

mIRC is an excellent IRC program for Windows, but is shareware, and cannot legally be used for more than 30 days without being purchased.

OS X:

There are other IRC applications for OS X that have not been evaluated, such as Colloquy.
