NCEAS WIFI
From NCEAS Knowledge Base
WiFi is available to all residents and guests at NCEAS who have a computer which supports 802.11b and WPA encryption. This setup accepts the majority of all modern Windows XP, OS X, and Linux computers. For those computers without WiFi or WPA support, we have ethernet connections at every chair in our conference rooms, and throughout the building. Switches and cables are also available for loan.

Connect to WIFI
Configure your laptop to use the wireless service with a network name or SSID of “nceas". There are several other wireless signals that can be accessed in the Balboa Building, but "nceas" is the only one secured and supported by NCEAS.
To use the Wifi, you need to configure a WPA key. Several alternate names for our setup are:
WPA Personal WPA PSK WPA PSK TKIP WPA Pre-Shared Key
A copy of the wireless key can be found in both conference rooms on CDs posted on the wall near the doors, and in Room 314.
Windows XP SP2
Step 1: Open your wireless connection chooser using the icon at the bottom right of your screen.
Step 2: Click on "nceas", then click "connect"
Step 3: Copy and paste the key into the password field, then click "Login to Network".
OS X 10.4
Step 1: Click on the wireless icon on the top right of the screen and choose "nceas" from the drop down list.
Step 2: From the box that comes up, choose "WPA Personal", "Remember...", paste the password from the CD into the password field, and click "OK".
